Air Canada Aeroplan’s latest buy points promotion provides members with the opportunity to receive an 80% bonus when buying points by March 13, 2025.

Does it make sense to buy points?
When you buy points with an 80% bonus your cost on each point is 1.94 cents (C$) each before taxes (2.04-2.23 cents with taxes, depending on which province you live in). There are no taxes for purchases made from outside of Canada.
We value Aeroplan points at a minimum of C$ 1.5 cents each but the program does provide the ability to get much more than that. If you find the right award flights at the right time you can easily redeem points with values well over 2 or 3 cents per point.
The 80% bonus for buying Air Canada Aeroplan points is better than the last buy points offers (30% discount) but still falls short of some of the other past offers we have seen like 100% or higher bonuses. If you have an immediate redemption to use these points on where you will get more than C$ 2.5 cent per point in value then by all means buy the points to give yourself a discount on you travels otherwise wait until the next promotion.
