Marriott Bonvoy and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer have expanded their partnership with a new Preferred Program that sees elite members in the programs receive reciprocal status and/or accelerated offers to earn status. This partnership is similar to those we have seen between Marriott and United as well as Marriott and Emirates and also expands on the news from earlier this year that saw two way points/miles conversions between Marriott Bonvoy and KrisFlyer. (Thanks to Chris C. for alerting us to this news!)
The Marriott Bonvoy Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Preferred Partnership program:
The Preferred Partnership Program provides members of Marriott Bonvoy and KrisFlyer the opportunity to match status and more.
KrisFlyer Elite Silver Members receive:
- Opportunity to participate in accelerator offer to earn Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status.
The status challenge: Earn Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite status by staying three (3) Qualifying Nights at hotels participating in Marriott Bonvoy within a six (6) month period from the date of registration in the Preferred Partnership Program.

The status challenge: Earn KrisFlyer Elite Silver status by completing 2 qualifying flights on a Singapore Airlines commercial flight paid with cash in any booking class except booking class codes G ‘Group fares’, within a six (6) month period from the date of registration in the Preferred Partner Program. Wrapping it up
The world of airline-hotel program link ups beyond point/mile earnings continues to expand with this latest partnership between Marriott Bonvoy and Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer. This partnership allows elite members from the respective programs to receive status in the other program or have an accelerated offer to earn status much quicker. The status levels provided automatically are the lowest in each program but are better than no status at all. The accelerated offers can be very worthwhile however as you can get Marriott Platinum status with only 10 stays (versus 50) and/or KrisFlyer Gold with only four flights instead of earning 50,000 KrisFlyer status miles.

Being a UA 1K (so Star Alliance gold status) as well as Marriot Platinum. Is there anything additional to be gained here for me by linking my Marriot and a new Singapore account?
It doesn’t seem like it really would. Your Marriott Platinum will give you SQ Silver which is only Star Alliance silver. If you are going to fly with SQ the Silver status will give you a couple of small benefits like complimentary seat selection and 25% bonus tier KrisFlyer miles on their flights
@Levy, if you ever transfer miles to Krisflyer, you might get better benefits (i.e. seat selection, available to better award inventory, etc.) unlike *A Gold.
I wonder how long the Singapore status lasts after you fly the four flights.
