As you may or may not know, Malev Hungarian Airlines kicked the bucket last week and this of course does not go unnoticed in the airline industry. Trying to capitalize on the demise of the Hungarian carrier, Air Berlin is offering those who held status with Malev Duna Club a status match in their Top Bonus program for four months. Why is this important? Air Berlin officially joins OneWorld as of March 20th so the elite benefits from the Top Bonus program can be enjoyed across the OneWorld network. The next thing you may say is I am not a status holder in Malev’s Duna Club, well if you are not then this is of no use to you but many of you should be since we broke the Duna Club status match in 2010 (and continued in 2011) which gave status in Malev’s program.

So those of who did manage to take advantage of the Duna Club status match should take advantage of this promotion as well.  You have until May 31 to apply for the status match.
