Marriott has brought back their annual bonus for stays at many of their properties in the Caribbean & Latin America. Just as we have seen in previous years the bonus ranges from 1,000 points to 10,000 points depending on the brand, location and duration of stay (appears to be min. 2 nights).

The up to 10,000 bonus points offer:

Earn up to 10,000 Bonus Bonvoy Points for stays at nearly 250 participating Marriott hotels and resorts across the Caribbean & Latin America. Book by Sep 3  for stays until Sep 9, 24. Click here for more details & to book this offer.

Bonuses as follows:

  • Get 1,000 bonus points per stay at City Express, Courtyard, Four Points, Fairfield, AC Hotels, Aloft Hotels, Residence Inn, and Marriott Executive Apartments
  • Get 2,000 bonus points per stay at Marriott Hotels, Sheraton, Delta Hotels, Westin, Le MERIDIEN, Renaissance Hotels, Autograph Collection Hotels, and Tribute Portfolio
  • Bonuses start at 5,000 points per stay at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, The Luxury Collection, W Hotels, JW Marriott

Stay Example:

I checked out the bonus points rate at several locations and it looks like it prices the same as the best flexible rate for non-members. Here is a 2 night stay at the Le MeridienPanama City in July:

The bonus points rate runs $174 per night compared to $171 for the Member Rate Flexible and as low as $139 for the AAA rate. Definitely go for the AAA rate without bonus points if you can!

If you are someone who does not book AAA rates (you’re not an AAA member and live by the rules by not booking the rate) you could choose the bonus points rate since you would be technically buying those 2,000 points for $7. That works out to 0.35 cents per point which is less than half of what it costs to buy points directly from Marriott with the current 50% bonus.
