United has brought back their annual bonus for converting hotel points to MileagePlus miles. Just like last fall we see a 25% bonus for conversions and each member can earn up to 25,000 bonus miles with this offer.
The up to 25% Bonus:
Receive 25% bonus MileagePlus Miles when you convert any hotel program partner points into United MileagePlus Miles. Max. bonus of 25,000 miles per member. Valid until Jun 30, 26. Click here for more details & to register for this offer. (Registration is required)
Does it make sense to transfer?
In most cases the only transfer that makes sense is converting Marriott Bonvoy points since they transfer at a 3 to 1 ratio. If you transfer 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points you’ll get 10,000 bonus miles from the enhanced MileagePlus – Marriott partnership. Those 10,000 bonus miles are excluded from earning the 25% bonus.
For example, if you do transfer 60,000 Bonvoy Points to MileagePlus Miles you should end up with 35,000 MileagePlus miles:
- 20,000 miles from the 3:1 ratio plus the 25% bonus = 25,000 miles
- Bonus for transferring 60,000 points = 10,000 miles
- Total = 35,000 miles
All other hotel programs have pretty terrible conversion ratios to MileagePlus, however if you have orphaned points in those programs that you know you’ll never use, by all means convert them over so you can get some sort of value from them.
The 25% bonus is awarded on all cumulative transfers and all members can earn a maximum of 25,000 bonus miles each with this promotion.
