You know that oneworld Elite Status Match opportunity we’ve covered on FFB for almost two years? Well it was expanded last week to include residents of Canada and matches from Air Canada and WestJet. And now it’s been expanded again but this time only for Canadians!
The expanded status match opportunity:
The normal Royal Jordanian paid status match opportunity allows elite members of 18 non-oneworld airline programs to receive either Royal Jordanian Silver Jay or Gold Sparrow Elite Status for twelve months. Members of 11 Hotel Programs can receive Royal Jordanian Silver Jay except for the next week where Canadians can go for Gold Sparrow with select hotel statuses:
Royal Club Gold Hotel Status Match is available Sep 9 – Sep 16, 2025 to select top-tier hotel status (Accor: Platinum or higher, Hilton: Diamond, Hyatt: Globalist, IHG: Diamond or higher, Marriott: Platinum or higher). Members must also hold residency in Canada. US $199 application fee applies for Gold applications. Limited time, eligibility criteria applies. Offer expires September 16, 2025
Pretty simple – if you want to use your hotel elite status to get oneworld Sapphire status (the match typically only provides hotel status to oneworld Ruby via Royal Jordanian Silver Jay status) now is the time to do it!
It needs to be noted that if you are Canadian and have Air Canada 50K or higher status or WestJet Gold or higher status you can also match to Royal Jordanian Gold Sparrow status (oneworld Sapphire) and only pay US$149 instead of the US$199 for the higher end hotel tier matches.
