Cathay Pacific are celebrating their 79th birthday with the “Rewards in the Air” promotion where members residing in Hong Kong can earn up to 10,000 bonus Asia Miles. The promotion runs for four weeks with new offers being posted on each Saturday for the upcoming week.
What is unique about this promotion is that the amount of bonus Asia Miles you can earn not only depends on the completed the required transaction but also depends on what the weather is like in Hong Kong on specific days! For example in this first week, you can earn 1,000 bonus miles for booking a Cathay flight and that’s if it is sunny. If it is raining you’ll get 1,200 bonus miles for the flight!
If you complete all 12 mini goals (3 goals per week for four weeks) you’ll receive 5,000 bonus Asia Miles.

Rewards in the Air – Week 1 Bonus Opportunities
These are offers for the first week:
- Goal 1: Members will receive a one-off bonus of 1,000 miles (sunny) or 1,200 miles (rainy) upon booking and a flight with Cathay Pacific through our official website or the Cathay Pacific app. Booking through other channels are deemed non-successful.
- Goal 2: Members will receive a one-off bonus of 200 miles (sunny) or 300 miles (rainy) upon converting loyalty points earned from eligible programmes into 500 or more Asia Miles. Conversions from credit card points are not eligible for this promotion.
- Goal 3: Members will receive a one-off bonus of 50 miles (sunny) or 100 miles (rainy) upon successfully completing the “check-in mission” on the Asia Miles by Cathay app.
And here’s how the weather plays into this game:
The bonus miles awarded for each goal will depend on the weather in Hong Kong, as reported by the Hong Kong Observatory at 10:00 AM HKT. Specifically:
- If the recorded rainfall at King’s Park Meteorological Station exceeds 0.1mm, Rainy Bonus Miles will be awarded.
- If the recorded rainfall is exactly 0.0mm, Sunny Bonus Miles will be awarded.
