Marriott has brought back their annual summer bonus for stays at many of their properties in the Caribbean & Latin America. Just as we have seen in previous years the bonus varies depending on the brand, location and duration of stay (2 to 3 nights minimum) however the maximum bonus has been boosted to 15,000 points from the 10,000 we’ve seen the past couple of summers.

Stay Example:
I checked out the bonus points rate at several locations and it varies depending on the property. At some locations it prices the same as the best flexible rate for members while others price the same as the best non-member flexible rate . Here is a 3 night stay at the Marriott Miches Beach, An All-Inclusive Resort Dominican Republic in July:
The bonus points rate in this example is the same as the best Member Rate Flexible so you definitely want to book the bonus points rate!
The AAA rate is $16 less per night but you would be foregoing the 5,000 points per night (based on this three night stay) which are worth $25-$50. Another way to look at it as a AAA member not going for the AAA rate is that over the course of these three nights you are buying 15,000 points for about $48. That works out to 0.32 cents per point which is over 60% less than if you were to buy points directly from Marriott with the current 40% bonus.
Check the value:
If the property is one that prices the bonus points at the best non-member rate do the math to see if paying extra is worth the bonus points. It should be noted that if you are someone who buys Marriott points that often the amount you pay per point with these hotel stay bonus points offers is way less than buying points directly from Marriott, even with the up to 40% bonus they have now.
Take a screen shot of the offer:
Also make sure you take a screenshot of the offer and the rate details for your stay as many times these bonus points that don’t require registration don’t post automatically and you’ll have to chase the hotel to get them posted.
