In nearly 23 years of tracking and publishing bonus points offers, it’s rare to come across something that I haven’t seen before but such is the case with this offer! The Maxwell Reserve Singapore, Autograph Collection is offering 10,000 bonus points per night if you pick a room that faces onto some ongoing construction! This is a new one for me!

The 10,000 bonus points per night offer:

Earn 10,000 bonus Bonvoy points PER NIGHT  for stays in construction-facing rooms at the Maxwell Reserve Singapore, Autograph Collection. Book now for stays until Jun 30, 24. Click here for more details & to book this offer.

Here’s how the hotel describes the offer:

For a limited time, we’re offering a special room package with 10,000 Marriott Bonvoy Bonus Points per night. Due to some construction adjacent to the hotel, we’re allocating this exclusive package to construction-facing rooms. But don’t worry, the party’s still on at Maxwell Reserve! You’ll enjoy a spacious, bespoke room perfect for kicking back after a long day with all the amenities you love, from our outdoor pool to the state-of-the-art fitness centre and access to a collection of dining options. Besides, Maxwell Reserve’s prime location puts you in the heart of the action, close to the hottest bars and restaurants in Tanjong Pagar and Chinatown.

Don’t miss out on this chance to accumulate significant amount of bonus points.

I cannot recall ever seeing a “construction” related bonus in the 50,000+ bonuses we have posted on our sites since 2001. Typically, hotels don’t like promoting construction issues – whether it’s their own or something nearby like this location but maybe they’re onto something here! Rather than having to deal with customers on a reactive basis, that is, those who complain about getting a room facing construction and asking for compensation, this hotel is being proactive! Customer booking these rooms know what they are getting and will have no room to complain plus the hotel won’t have to move these customers to other rooms and/or compensate them beyond these bonus points.

And here’s the kicker – the price of the 10,000 bonus points per night package is roughly 10% higher than the best member rate (I looked at three different nights in May and June with roughly the same result) so they are further minimizing their ‘compensation’ for customer having the inconvenience of the construction.

In the above example, the 10,000 bonus points rate is 31 SGD extra or about US$22. The 10,000 points are worth US$50 at a minimum so you do come out ahead with the bonus points rate but I still find it quite interesting they are charging more for it given the construction situation!
