Marriott Bonvoy has come out with a new bonus offering 40% extra points when you buy 2,000 or more points. This offer is available until April 3, 2023 and members can buy up to 100,000 points annually before the bonus.
With a 40% bonus the price per point works out to US$ 0.89 cents. If you are in Canada the purchase is also subject to GST/HST on top of the points price.
Is it worth it to buy at that price? If can be if you know your redemption will be providing more per point value than that or if you just need a few thousand more points for an award redemption. On the average we value Marriott points around 0.5 to 0.7 cents but if you the hotel redemption is worth 1 cents, 1.5 cents etc. then you will come out ahead.
