TAP Air Portugal has launched a Business Class sale for travel on their flights out of the U.S. They also have an economy class sale but I’ll focus on the Business Class deal in this post as that really seems like the good deal! With this sale you can fly round trip business class from the U.S to Europe or Israel from $1529, Cape Verde from $1539, Portugal from $1639 and North Africa from $1749.
This sale runs until May 16 and is valid for travel on the following dates:
- May 15 – July 14, 2022
- September 1 – December 14, 2022
- January 16 – March 31, 2023
They also note your outbound and inbound flights must fall into the same time period. For example, you can’t book an outbound flight on December 14 to return on January 16 as those fall into separate time periods. Honestly, that wouldn’t work anyways as the sale fare has a maximum 1 month stay period.
The following minimum stay requirements are in place:
- Flights to Europe – Friday to Saturday or 3 days
- Remaining flights – Friday to Saturday or 5 days
Here’s New York/Newark to Vienna, perfect time to visit Christmas Markets. The Transatlantic portion is flown with TAP’s A321LR which does have lie flat business class seats:
If you are flying beyond Portugal you can also add a stopover for up to 5 days in Lisbon on these connecting flights with no extra cost to the price of the flight.

To further maximize your points earning on these flights you’ll want to use a credit card that has a travel accelerator like the American Express Gold Card (3 points per dollar spent on flights booked directly with airlines) or Chase Sapphire Reserve Card (3 points per dollar spent on travel).
Of note, TAP also has a Status Match challenge where they will match status from 21 airlines. This list includes the likes American AAdvantage, British Airways Executive Club and Delta SkyMiles. Even Royal Air Maroc Safar Flyer (if you just recently took advantage of their status match offer) is part of the list. TAP will match your status from one of those programs once you complete the challenge which is to either buy a Club Miles&Go membership or buy 4,000 or more Miles&Go miles.
