Earlier this week we let readers of our Canadian site know that the first Radisson Blu Hotel in Canada opened up its doors in Toronto. At that time award nights were pricing out the regular price of 44,000 points per night but now Radisson Rewards has implemented a new hotel discount on award nights for this location!
This offer entitled “New Hotel Award night ” is 25% off the regular rate of 44,000 points which means award nights are pricing out at 33,000 points for standard rooms. But it doesn’t stop there. I reached out to Radisson to see if you can also take advantage of the additional 25% rebate that Radisson Rewards is offering on all award nights right now and they have confirmed to Rewards Canada that indeed you will also receive the rebate of 25% as long as you are registered for that offer and meet the requirements of the promotion. That is, book by October 25 for award night stays until December 20, 2020. And again it doesn’t stop there! Radisson Rewards also has their current systemwide bonus points promotion of 5,000 bonus per stay and if you recall this bonus points promo counts on award night stays as well!
What does this all mean? It means that a 44,000 point award night stay will ultimately only end up costing you 19,750 points! That is, you take the 33,000 points discounted award night rate that you would redeem for the stay but then you get the 25% rebate of 8,250 points and the 5,000 bonus points back into your account once the stay is completed.
For most nights the cash rate for a standard room is $174.52 included all taxes and fees. Ultimately if you do redeem for an award night you would be getting a value of 0.88 cents per point (174.52/19750) which is well above our average valuation of about C$ 0.5 cents per point for the Radisson Rewards program.
Don’t have any Radisson Rewards points? Not to worry, Radisson Rewards has one more promotion that you can make use of that will save you some cash at this new hotel. That promotion is their 100% bonus for buying Radisson Rewards points! You can use this buy points bonus to buy a stay at this newly renovated hotel for $177 including taxes which at first look like more than the cash price we list above but then you have to account for the 25% points rebate and the 5,000 bonus points you’ll earn on the stay. With a purchase price of C$ 0.52 cents each that means the 19,750 points you end up redeeming cost you around C$103 or a $70+ savings over the going nightly rate. But this calculation is only valid if you can use those remaining points for a future stay or another type of redemption as if you don’t end up using them then you did just spend $177 for a $174 hotel room.
