British Airways is once again offering a bonus for buying or gifting Avios. This time it is a flat 50% bonus which tends to be the highest public offer from the program although some people were targeted for a 75% bonus during the last bonus period a few months ago. You can buy anywhere from 1,000 to 200,000 Avios in one transaction and there is a 200,000 Avios annual limit to which the bonus does not count towards. Here’s an example of what it would cost to buy the maximum amount of Avios:

At 1.841 cents per Avios, this is not a good deal unless you want to top off your account for award seat(s) you already found. Value of this currency is totally dependent on how you use them but most experts place their value at 1.1 – 1.5 cents per Avios.
I tend to agree, there might a couple of advantageous spots where one could pull more value than the cost but in reality it is best suited for those account top offs.
