Starwood Preferred Guest has released their annual hotel award night category changes. Per the SPG representative on FlyerTalk:
“Just over 22% of hotels are changing category; of these,
10.49% are moving up and 11.78% are moving down including some
favorites such as The St. Regis Rome, The Westin Kaanapali Ocean
Resort Villas, Maui, W Paris – Opera, and others.”
These changes take effect on March 10th so we reiterate the old addage
that you should try to book award nights (if you have planned any) for
hotels going up before the 10th while those that are going down you
should wait if possible to book after that date. I am very happy to see
one of my favourites, the Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas go
down! You can view the entire list of hotel changes here.
