When one of our readers forwarded us this email from Etihad, we had to do a double take! Why? Etihad has launched a new marketing effort called Miles Accelerator and we had to take a second look to ensure it wasn’t Emirates! Emirates has run offers called ‘Miles Accelerator’ for years! In fact if you look at our Skywards page or look at Skywards posts right here on the FFB blog.
The major difference between Etihad’s and Emirate’s Miles Accelerator offers is that the latter is open to any member while Etihad’s are targeted offers. You’ll want to check your email to see if you have received an offer from Etihad on select routes. It is also structured a little differently than Emirates as the bonus grows with the more flights you take. In the case of our reader this is what he received:
Members will earn 5,000 miles for the first segment, 7,500 miles for the second segment, 10,000 miles for the third segment, 12,500 miles for the fourth segment and 15,000 miles for the fifth segment onwards. Members will earn a maximum of 15,000 bonus miles for travel beyond the 5th segment. The bonus miles earned will be the same for First and Business Class. No bonus miles will be offered for travel in Economy Class.
As you can see if he completes two round trip flights each with one connection he would earn the full bonus of 15,000 miles.
The offer requires registration and you can try to see if you are eligible via this link. It is only valid for those who register by January 31st for flights until March 25. It doesn’t hurt to see if you qualify for the offer as maybe your email went into your junk folder or maybe you deleted it before reading it!
