That’s enough miles to fly virtually anywhere in the Continental U.S. and Canada on Alaska Airlines or on their partner airlines American or Delta.

Here are the details of the offer as it appears on FFB’s Mileage Plan Bonus Miles page:

Earn up to 40% Bonus Mileage Plan Miles when you buy or gift Mileage Plan miles. Full details Until Mar 15, 14
Buy 5,000 – 19,000 miles: get a 20% Bonus
Buy 20,000 – 34,000 miles: get a 30% Bonus
Buy 35,000 – 40,000 miles: get a 40% Bonus

If you max out this offer by buying 40,000 Miles plus getting a 16,000 mile bonus you’ll be spending 2.1 cents per mile. Not the absolute best deal (we like to buy when it goes under 2 cents) but the fact that Mileage Plan Miles are so valuable the purchase at 2.1 cents makes this deal quite worthwhile. Of course it is best to only buy miles if you will be using them within the next few months since we have witnessed many programs including Alaska Airlines devalue their programs at a moments notice (granted Alaska Airlines award increases were minor compared to other airlines!)

Here are some of the reasons why Mileage Plan miles are valuable:
– Alaska Airlines has a great repertoire of partner airlines including a mix across various alliances. Emirates, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, American, Air France/KLM, Delta and more.
– Alaska Airlines does not limit the number of miles you can buy in a year like other programs. Although each transaction is limited to a maximum of 40,000 miles (plus any bonuses on top of that) and Points.com only allows four purchases per month on the same credit card, so you may need to pull out more cards if you want to buy miles more than 4 times.
– They offer excellent one way awards, even on most of their partners even when some of their partner’s own programs don’t!
