I would consider this an very interesting move by China Airlines and a very smart marketing tactic since most airlines seem to avoid loyalty marketing to children or seniors. What is that China Airlines is doing? They are extending elite-like benefits to flyers in their Dynasty Flyer FFP who are 65 years or older. These members can now enjoy the following benefits when flying on China Airlines or Mandarin Airlines:
1. Preferred seating.
2. Priority confirmation on upgrade waiting list.
3. Priority airport check-in at business class counter.
4. Priority baggage handling
I tip my hat to China Airlines and this latest loyalty initiative from them even if it does not increase their market share but I tell you if the word gets out about this in Taiwan or to those flying to/from Taiwan you can bet that they stand a chance at grabbing a sizable portion of the ‘seniors’ market for these routes.
