In case you didn’t catch the news when it came at the end of June, bmi’s frequent flyer program Diamond Club is going to integrated (read disappear) into Miles and More sometime in 2011. This move is not unusual as Lufthansa, the parent company of bmi did the same with Brussels Airlines and Swiss’ loyalty progams after LH became the majority owner in those airlines. What will this mean for current Diamond Club members? They will have to determine whether Miles and More is the right program for them or if they need to move to another program. It can be assumed that Elite members will receive equivalent status with Miles and More and that mileage balances will be transferred.
