When TAROM, Romania’s national carrier joins SkyTeam this June they will cease to operate their in house Frequent Flyer Program (FFP) called Smart Miles and bring in Air France KLM’s Flying Blue as their main loyalty program.

I do not know too much about the Smart Miles program but from a quick glance at the program it looks like the biggest drawback of moving to Flying Blue is that certain redemption levels will require more miles in Flying Blue over Smart Miles. On the other hand with Flying Blue there will be a lot more earning opportunities with partner airlines, hotels, car rental companies etc. then with the current Smart Miles program.
