United MileagePlus has come out with another mystery buy miles bonus promotion. The bonus will be revealed to you after you login and for some members it will be as high as 100%. Personally I received the 70% bonus. Definitely not going to buy miles at that amount.

Offer details:

This is the 70% bonus offer:

Buy 25,000+ miles | Receive 70% bonus miles

    1. It could be. At 100% it costs you about 1.75 cents per mile and there were lots of redemption options with value well over 2 cents per mile. However the current situation for travel and a lot of good flight deals abounding cash wise could negate that in the short term.

      1. Thanks for the reply, Patrick. I suppose the destination and purpose for buying the miles would have been useful details! I don’t yet have the math down on the cents per mile benchmark but looking at buying 80k miles (for their price of 40k) to apply towards a business class seat on Singapore Airlines to SE Asia, the buy-in at $1,400 would seem favorable compared to the cost of that flight. Thoughts?

        1. I did a quick check of some pricing and it does seem favorable as I’m finding round trip flights for about $3500 this October (I just picked some random dates). The only caveat will be finding availability on Singapore Airlines at that mileage rate. As long as you are pretty flexible in your travel dates etc. it should be a good deal
