In a move rarely seen from the airlines and their FFP’s, Cyprus Airways is doing away with charging a fuel surcharge on award tickets that are redeemed for by their Sunmiles members. This change came about as of July 1st so Sunmiles members who redeem after this date will be happy to know they can save some money.
I know most of our readers are not members of this program and some of you may not have heard of the program but I do think the news is significant because the current climate of FFP’s sees many of the programs continuing to add fees or take benefits away from their members. It is nice to see an airline giving back to their members and in this case Cyprus Airways can take solace in meeting their statement at the end of their newsletter: “Our aim is to continue upgrading the Cyprus Airways Frequent Flyer Program to the benefit of our loyal customers.”
