When does it make sense to buy miles?
Does it make sense to buy Air France KLM Flying Blue miles with a 40% discount when they have had better offers and most likely will have better ones in the future?
It can if you need to top off your account like mentioned above or if you are searching availability and find a redemption where the value higher than the 1.68 cents (US$) per mile cost when purchasing at the 45% discount level.
Now, it is very feasible to find redemptions with 2, 3, 4 or even more cents per mile in value but I would find those rewards first and be sure you want to book those flights prior to purchasing miles as mileage purchases are non-refundable.
