This comment is in regard to your 100% bonus Hawaiian Miles article. The article states that miles can be bought for 1.27 cents and if buying 3000 or more you get a 100% bonus, well when I attempt to buy 3000 miles and they give me the 3000 bonus, hence I’m getting 6000 miles but I’m being billed 76.20 which in essence is charging me for every single one of the 6000 miles. How is that a bonus of 3000 miles, in that in my mind’s eye a bonus is supposed to be free? Thus I should only be paying for the first 3000 miles not the entire 6000 miles. 3000 miles x 1.27 cents = $38.10 not $76.20. The bonus 3000 miles should be free am I correct?

You are buying 3,000 miles for $76,20 but they give you an additional 3,000 miles with this bonus. So in the end you get 6,000 miles for the $76.20 which works out to 1.27 cents per mile.
I’m just commenting on my earlier comment. To me a bonus would be getting additional miles above and beyond what I’m initially wanting to buy. Not giving me additional miles but also charging me accordingly for those additional miles. Furthermore when you look at their buy miles page, any quantity over 3000, they are actually forcing you to buy more miles. What if I only wanted 3000, which should be 3000 x 1.27 cents, correct, well they are making me purchase 6000 at 1.27 cents with the additional 3000 in the guise of a bonus. I am confused and don’t understand?
You are correct. The bonus is additional miles above and beyond what I’m initially wanting to buy. Normally it costs 2.55 cents to buy one Hawaiian mile. In this case – 3,000 miles for $76.20 works out to 2.55 cents per mile and that’s what you end up paying per mile when there isn’t a bonus. However since they are giving a 100% bonus you are now getting 6,000 miles for the same $76.20 which is the 1.27 cents.
They are not forcing you to buy more miles. If you only 3,000 miles, count yourself lucky to get 6,000 for 76.20 by November 15. If you really only want 3,000 miles, wait until November 16 and you’ll get 3,000 for 76.20.
