Aeroplan is out with a buy or gift points mystery promotion where you can buy Aeroplan points with up to a 100% bonus. The bonus should be a minimum of 75% (that’s what is advertised on Air Canada’s website) but some members are receiving offers of up to 100%. This is a tiered bonus that increases with the more points you buy for and it runs until June 21, 2024
Personally, I received an offer for up to 100% that is broken down as follows:
- Buy 4,000 – 30,000 points receive a 65% bonus
- Buy 35,000 – 50,000 points receive a 75% bonus
- Buy 60,000 or more points receive a 100% bonus
When you buy points at the 100% level your cost on each point is just over 1.75 cents (C$) each before taxes.
Since we value Aeroplan points at a minimum of 1.5 cents (C$) each you would think it wouldn’t make sense to buy them for more than that but there are times where you can extract a lot more value. For example, if you look at some of our past Aeroplan alerts you’ll see examples where you can receive more value per point than you pay for them:

In these cases where you can extract value like that it can make sense to buy points as you would end up saving some cash on your trips.
