Let’s look at how this offer prices out:
On a few of the nights we checked the bonus points rate prices the same as the non-member flexible rate. In the example above the Member Rate Flexible is $3 cheaper than the bonus points rate. This is where you have to decide if the 5,000 points are worth that extra $3. In our books the 5,000 points have a minimum value of US$35 so in this case it would be worth it to pay the extra and even when Marriott moves to dynamic pricing in March when don’t expect the value of points to drop below 0.5 cents each (at least we really hope they don’t) which puts the value of the points at $25.
