Isn’t that less then if you earn marriot points 10 for 1 usd and then conver to avios . 3 to 1 avios?
Ha! You are so right! Didn’t think to double check that. They really should have made it a 100% bonus not 50!
My thoughts exactly – that’s 3.33X for base members. And points transfers in 60k increments are 2.4:1, i.e. 4.17X earn rate for base members. And you earn more than 10X Bonvoy with status. And choosing to earn miles disqualifies you from certain promotions.
This offer could make sense for someone who does not stay at Marriott’s regularly however. If you have a one time $100 stay you are looking at only earning 500 to 1000 Bonvoy points. If they are regular BAEC collectors they may rather earn the lesser amount of Avios directly so they don’t have orphaned Bonvoy points.
