The Sapphire Preferred and Sapphire Reserve changes are now here

After the update to their Hyatt card this week also sees changes coming to Chase’s big two proprietary rewards cards, the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card.

Here is what is new on the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card:

  • 5X points on travel purchased through Chase Ultimate Rewards
  • 3X points on dining, on select streaming services and online grocery purchases
  • $50 Annual Ultimate Rewards Hotel Credit
  • 10% anniversary points boost

Outside of these changes the card retains its 2x points on travel and 1x points on all other purchases.

Here is what is new on the Chase Sapphire Reserved Card:

  • 10x total points on hotels and car rentals when you purchase travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards*
  • 5x total points on flights when you purchase travel through Chase Ultimate Rewards*
  • 10x total points on Chase Dining purchases through Chase Ultimate Rewards
    * after the first $300 spent as you get the $300 statement credit for that initial spending

Outside of these changes the card retains its 3x points on other travel and dining and 1x point on all other spending.
